SparkLe Your SMile With Teeth Whitening

An important aspect to a beautiful smile is having brighter teeth. Your teeth may appear yellow, grey or even patchy white due to various conditions. It is imperative to have your discolouration diagnosed properly before whitening treatment.

Our teeth whitening solutions bring next level brightness for that sparkle in your smile!

What Causes Discoloured Teeth?

The following are common causes of discolouration in teeth:

  • Poor oral hygiene
    Smoking
  • Heavy consumption of coffee, tea or wine
  • Excess fluoride intake as a child
  • Congenital tooth disorders
  • Antibiotic usage as a child
  • Dental trauma
  • Dental decay
  • Naturally darker teeth

How We Treat Discoloured Teeth

Once diagnosed with a form of discolouration that is suitable for whitening, you have an option of either doing home whitening, in-office laser whitening, or a combination of the two.

Only dentists are allowed to use HSA approved products with a sufficient active ingredient concentration for visible results. The active ingredient, carbamide peroxide, is available in varying concentrations for both in office as well as home usage. Custom whitening trays will be fabricated for home usage.

An hour of in-office laser whitening is equivalent to a week of home whitening.

At Orchard Scotts Dental, we have three levels of external whitening: Beauty White, Glamour White, and Pageant White.

beauty white

Our Beauty White program is a gentle whitening process that allows patients to whiten their teeth in the comfort and convenience of home. Patients wear a customised tray containing the whitening gel over their teeth between thirty minutes and four hours per day for two to six weeks, depending on the strength of the gel and the desired results.

Our Beauty White system relies on custom-fitted whitening trays which allow the whitening gel to easily cover or coat the entire forward facing surface of our patient’s teeth. As a result, you will see results that can last up to six month

glamour white

Our Glamour White protocol builds upon the Beauty White foundation by adding an office whitening session to quicken the whitening process. This whitening program jump-starts our patients’ treatment, making it an ideal solution for patients in search of an immediate whitening effect.

If you’re looking to whiten your teeth right before an upcoming event, the Glamour White protocol will be the solution we recommend for you.

pageant white

Our Pageant White process is designed to give the beauty queen, the bride, and the special someone a gorgeous smile that brilliantly sparkles and shines. Pageant White is our most intense program, which aims to maximize whitening potential using at-home whitening that is both jump-started and finalised with office sessions.

Orchard Scotts’ dentists have employed the “book-end” nature of this protocol to illuminate the smiles of the Miss Universe Singapore pageant winners since 2009, and it is our most robust whitening process that is intended to eliminate the toughest stains.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

Your teeth may feel especially sensitive during and after whitening treatment. It is recommended that a desensitizing toothpaste such as Colgate Pro Relief or Sensodyne be used throughout the entire duration of treatment.

Your gum line may also turn white in response to the treatment. This, however, should dissipate over the course of the next few days.

After whitening, your teeth may be more prone to staining for the first week or so. During this period, it is advised that you avoid strongly coloured food and drink, as well as certain activities, such as

  • Wine
  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Turmeric
  • Dark sauce
  • Smoking

If you are unable to avoid consumption of the aforementioned food and drink, you should brush your teeth thoroughly after.

How Do I Prevent Tooth Discolouration?

There are many reasons for how your teeth may get discoloured, but there are thing you can do to prevent it or at least control the situation from getting worse. Here are the top 3 tips to remember.

Good
Oral Hygiene

A dental routine of brushing daily and flossing regularly to reduce the buildup of plaque. Also use toothpaste that protects against staining.

That Stain

Food and beverages that have staining effects like coffee and red wine should be avoided or greatly reduced.

gum disease management faq

The clear aligners do a similar job to the traditional metal braces (but they’re transparent and much more comfortable). The aim of the aligners is to gently put force on the teeth so that the alignment of one or more is changed. Each aligner is designed specifically for the patient and to address their particular problem area. Depending on the progress being made, aligners will have to be changed every few weeks to continue getting teeth into the actual position that they need to be in.
Wearing Invisalign aligners correctly is probably the most important factor for the effectiveness of your treatment. As per general recommendations, you have to wear aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day. You can take the aligners off to eat, drink and have them properly cleaned. When done, however, do put the aligners back on. Also, keep in mind that the use of a retainer after you’re done with your aligner is an essential to help your teeth maintain the brand new position.

The short answer is no. Some people could experience a bit of discomfort over the first few days of each treatment stage. This is normal. The feeling, however, isn’t painful – most people describe it as pressure. This pressure means that your Invisalign aligners are doing their job and getting teeth closer to their correct position.

Yes! In fact, dentists who with Invisalign in Singapore often get such cases.

A medical-grade thermoplastic material is used to give you custom aligners that are precisely shaped for your mouth and for the specifics of the problem you’re attempting to address.
