First visit and treatment discussion

Preparation of teeth

The front surface of your teeth will be prepared to accommodate the dental veneers. This procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia and is painless. You will go home with a set of temporary veneers that should mimic the outcome of your final veneers.

Issue of veneers

The temporary veneers will be removed. Prior to final bonding of the veneers, you will first determine if you are satisfied with the aesthetic of the veneers. The surface of your teeth will be cleansed thoroughly prior to bonding with one of a selection of special cements that best complements the translucency and colour of the veneers.

Review of veneers

You will be asked to come back for a review shortly after the issue of veneers to resolve any functional or aesthetic issues that you may have found.

A final touch up and polished is performed before you are set to show off your Hollywood smile to the world.

Porcelain Veneers faq

While porcelain veneers are a suitable accessory for correcting a wide variety of issues with your smile, it is necessary to understand the possible disadvantages and risks that may come with the procedure.

Porcelain veneers will require permanent modification to your teeth. A small portion of your tooth is going to be removed to provide a surface for affixing the porcelain veneers, and this removal cannot be reversed.
Porcelain veneers are more expensive than other methods of smile repair, including composite resin bonding.

Porcelain veneers may be difficult to repair. Though a chip in a veneer may be replaced, the color may not exactly match the existing veneer.

You may experience sensitivity for several weeks or months after your porcelain veneers are affixed, but most people report that such sensitivity eventually fades unless other complications existed prior to receiving the veneers.

Though your dentist will do his best to match the color of your veneers with your existing teeth, an exact match is not guaranteed, and the color of the veneer cannot be changed once it is made and affixed.

Porcelain veneers can be damaged, especially when chewing on hard substances. Night time teeth grinding can also permanently damage veneers, so be sure to talk to your dentist about solutions for this if you believe you grind your teeth.

People with preexisting dental problems may also experience issues with porcelain veneers. Gum disease, advanced decay, significant previous dental work, and other major dental problems may make affixing porcelain veneers extremely difficult or even impossible, so a thorough check of your teeth and gums before moving forward with porcelain veneers is essential.
